Jesus Christ: The Only Hope in a World Running Out of Time

Jesse Season 4 Episode 280

Time—our most precious and limited resource. Yet how easily we squander it on things that won't matter in eternity while claiming we're too busy for God, our spouses, or our children. In this soul-searching episode, we confront the uncomfortable truth that many of us excel at procrastinating in matters of faith while finding endless hours for entertainment and distractions.

Drawing from 2 Peter 1, we examine the apostle's call to "apply all diligence" to our faith, adding moral excellence, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love. When was the last time you evaluated your activities against this biblical standard? Are your entertainment choices and time investments making you a better follower of Christ, or are they simply consuming hours you'll never get back?

Patrick Henry's famous "Give me liberty or give me death" speech serves as a powerful framework for understanding America's current spiritual crossroads. Just as Henry warned against the "illusion of hope" regarding peaceful reconciliation with Britain, we must question whether peaceful coexistence with ideologies fundamentally opposed to biblical truth is possible or merely buying time for their advancement. The speech, rich with biblical references often missed by modern readers, reminds us that our founders understood liberty's dependence on spiritual foundations.

Remember—our tendency to delay spiritual growth assumes we have tomorrow, when Scripture clearly warns against such presumption. What relationships are you neglecting? What spiritual disciplines are you postponing? What truths are you afraid to speak? As Patrick Henry declared, if we remain silent when truth demands our voice, we commit "an act of disloyalty toward the majesty of heaven." Where will you invest your irreplaceable time today?

Speaker 1:

Hey folks, this is Jesse Cope, back with another episode of the American Soul Podcast. Hope y'all are doing well, wherever y'all are and whatever part of the day you're in. Sort of appreciate y'all joining me, giving me a little bit of your time, a little piece of your day. I will try and use it wisely. Hopefully I will give us all some extra tools for our toolbox and hopefully help us all draw a little bit closer to God and Jesus Christ, both as individuals and as a nation. For those of y'all who continue to support the podcast and tell others about it, thank you so much. And for those of y'all who continue to pray for me and for the podcast, thank you so much. Need them very, very much. And for those of y'all who are new to the podcast, I'm glad you're here. Hope you enjoy it, hope you get something out of it, hope you come back.

Speaker 1:

Father, thank you for today. Thank you for you, father, and your Son, jesus Christ and your Holy Spirit. Thank you for your love and your mercy, your grace and your forgiveness of sins. Thank you for the time to record this podcast and the people that listen to it. Be with them, be with their families, be with the marriages of those who are married. Draw them close to you, father. Surround them with your angels. Protect them from evil of any kind. Help us to do your will. Above all else. Forgive us when we fall short, father. Forgive us our lack of trust. Forgive us when we fall short, father. Forgive us our lack of trust. Forgive us our arrogance, our judgment of others, rash words and actions, our cowardice and our unbelief. Forgive us when we focus on this world and building up treasures here instead of focusing on eternity with you and storing up for ourselves treasures there that don't rust or rot away. Give us patience, father. Help us to be still before you. Be with those who lead us, from the president, vice president on down senators, representatives, general admirals, judges, governors, mayors, city councils. Be with our educators across the nation. Be with our school boards across the nation. The nation Administrators, teachers, coaches, staff counselors. Help us to lead our children to you, father and your Son Jesus Christ. Help us to strengthen that bond and help us to remember that the only way that we achieve liberty, the only way that we have any hope of coming to you, father, is through your Son Jesus Christ. Fill us with your Holy Spirit. Guide us in all that we do. God, my words here, your Father, please, in your Son's name, we pray, amen.

Speaker 1:

Have you made time for God today? Have you made time to read his word? Have you made time to pray, to talk to him, to tell him what you're grateful for? Do you think about that? To ask him for forgiveness of whatever sins that you have committed? To pray for your family, for those you love, for yourself, for the nation? Is he your top priority? Do you claim that he is?

Speaker 1:

I think so often I do a real good job claiming that God's my top priority and not following that up with deeds and or attitude. Right, I'll read my Bible, but God, it's such a burden I'll pray, but only just for a couple minutes, because then I really have all this other stuff that's super important that I need to do. If you're married, do you treat your spouse as a treasure, one out of seven billion plus? Do you make sure that each day, at the end of the day, their head hits the pillow, knowing that they are your second priority, behind only God and Jesus Christ? You know, you see so many people today complaining about their marriage, complaining about their spouse. You have to wonder how many of those people. And this ties right into making God your top priority.

Speaker 1:

If God's your top priority, then where are you going to go for marriage advice? You're not going to go to the world. You're not even going to go to some really good marriage counselors that are biblical to start with. You're going to go straight to Scripture, to God. What did you tell me God? What do you say about my marriage? And he's going to help you out. It's going to be real simple. You may not like it, but it's real simple Ephesians 5, 1 Corinthians 7, 1 Peter 3, titus 2, hebrews 13, 4.

Speaker 1:

Roles and responsibilities super easy to see, right. And how many of us folks, how many of us claim that we don't have time and energy for God, or our spouse, or even our children, or our parents, maybe. But really God first and foremost accounts where nobody cares about us. They're not there for you. Or watching sports, cheering on, really, a particular athlete. That athlete doesn't know you, they don't care about you, you're not part of their family, you're nothing more to them than a fan. Maybe an income and job security, maybe.

Speaker 1:

How many of us watch the same TV show or movie over and over again? You know that's one of the things you hear about both both reading the Bible, for example, right and praying and our spouse, if you've been married for a while, it's just so boring. It's the same thing over and over and over again. And, of course, as with so much in our lives, our own actions prove the lie of our comments. Right? How many times do we watch the same TV show over and over again? How many times do we watch the same movie, read the same book, do the exact same workout, hang out with the exact same friends, doing the exact same thing? We don't claim any of that stuff is boring. Doing the exact same thing? We don't claim any of that stuff is boring. Well, you don't know. My spouse, my spouse, is boring. Are they boring? Or are you just using that as an excuse so that you don't have to deal with them, so that you can go do whatever it is that you want to do? So that you can go do whatever it is that you want to do Before we get going?

Speaker 1:

We're going to get into 2 Peter today out of this Churchill biography by William Manchester, this first one, and I won't bore you with the names of the people, but there's a quote in here. This is in 39, just shortly before war started, before Germany went into Poland, and one of the people that Manchester quotes here said that they were convinced that war was almost upon us and that the Germans, unless given all they wanted, were prepared to launch it right. It emerged that there was more doubt in General George's mind than in ours that it was the Germans rather than we who had benefited by the time gained at Munich, always supposing that they had really intended fighting then, which he doubted he thought Hitler had been bluffing. A year ago, he told them the Nazis had no elaborate defenses facing France. Now they had built their West Wall, the Siegfried Line, a formidable obstacle built according to modern ideas in great depth, whereas the Maginot line was linear. And so Manchester, here he puts another couple of comments, talking about the French artillery versus the Germans and what had happened over the last year as far as munitions and their lead in the air right compared to what it was a year previous. And so I read this particular set of quotes, and there's a couple things today that it reminded me of. One of them was a few days ago when I was reading this, but one was today.

Speaker 1:

The thought that occurred to me recently was about how we treat time. We act like we have all this time in the world. We do this in relationships really bad. We think, oh well, I'll do it. Tomorrow I'll be a better follower of Christ. Tomorrow I'll be a better spouse. Tomorrow I'll be a better parent. Tomorrow I'll be a better child. Tomorrow I'll be a better employee. Tomorrow I'll check on widow so-and-so tomorrow I'll be a better child. Tomorrow I'll be a better employee. Tomorrow I'll check on widow so-and-so tomorrow. We have no guarantee that we have tomorrow.

Speaker 1:

You remember the parable from the Bible, from Jesus, talking about the rich man that stored up all this stuff for himself? And he kicks back and he goes man, I've got all this stuff, now I can relax. I'll just spend the rest of however long and ease and I don't have to worry about things. And what does God tell him? Says you fool, this very night, your soul will be required of you and who's going to get all this stuff that you stored up for yourself? And there's a few different lessons there.

Speaker 1:

But the time thing, folks, we act like we have so much time and some of y'all know this. I was great in school at procrastinating, especially in college man, I was really good at that waiting until the last minute to do stuff, and inevitably not inevitably, but often I would get the crunch time and something else would come up too that I would have to pay attention to. How often do we do that we think, oh, we got more time, we got more time. And then all of a sudden we look up some of those. Really, you know, as you get older, you have these points in your life that you look back and you go. Man, that was a failing. I missed the boat there. And there's two or three specific times in my life where I've had a grandparent or great uncle or aunt or a pastor that I really cared about. I can think about off the top of my head and I kept saying to myself I'm going to go by and visit them more often. And then they passed away.

Speaker 1:

We don't know how much time we have, folks. You have no idea how much time if you're going to get to spend time. I've told this story multiple times. It's really stuck with me this young girl in a town nearby who lost her parents and her brother all at the same time. They're gone and she doesn't get any more time with them. We have no idea what's going to happen tonight, tomorrow, right, okay, and so then, the other thing about this has to do with our attitude toward the modern left and Islam in particular.

Speaker 1:

And you see these bumper stickers we've talked about them on the podcast before, talk about them often that say coexist. You know, and they have that the left, or followers of Islam, demand time, want peaceful coexistence right, I should have led with that. The only reason they claim to want peaceful coexistence at any point is to gain time. To gain time. That's what Hitler did. He needed to gain time. That's what Hitler did. He needed to gain time. The more time he could have before he started the war, the more prepared he was going to be, and the less prepared the democracies in Europe were going to be, the more damage he could do before the war actually started, the better off, the more undermining, in particular, particular, he could do. And that's the same principle that the left and Islam have been using, particularly for the last century. The more undermining that they can do, the better it's going to be, the better position they're going to be in to wreak havoc with our Republic.

Speaker 1:

And you can see it today, folks, this. It just. Time is such a precious commodity, it is the most precious commodity that we have. It's more important than money, more important than fame or power or anything else. It's time, and we act like we have so much of it and we don't. We don't. All right, so we're going to get into.

Speaker 1:

I've got some other quotes out of that biography we'll talk about on a different time. We're going to go to 2 Peter 1, verse 1. Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior, jesus Christ, grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus, our Lord, seeing that his divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness through the true knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and excellence, for by these he has granted to us his precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. Now, for this very reason, also applying all diligence in your faith, supply, moral excellence and in your moral excellence. Knowledge and in your knowledge. Self-control and in your self-control, perseverance and in your knowledge. Self-control and in your self-control, perseverance and in your perseverance, godliness and in your godliness, brotherly kindness and in your brotherly kindness, love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, no-transcript, for he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins. Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about his calling and choosing you, for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble, for in this way, the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior, jesus Christ, will be abundantly supplied to you. Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them and have been established in the truth which is present in you or with you. I consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder, knowing that the laying aside of my earthly dwelling is imminent, as also our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. And I will also be diligent that at any time after my departure you will be able to call these things to mind, eyewitnesses, for we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. But we were eyewitnesses of his majesty, for when he received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to him by the majestic glory. This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased, and we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain. So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention, as to a lamp shining in a dark place until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

Speaker 1:

There's all sorts of stuff here, folks, all sorts. I will tell you two things. If you go back and read this chapter 2, peter 1, you're going to see a number of verses that refer to God, the Father, jesus Christ, the Son, both masculine, not feminine, right. And the reason I say that is not to make women out to be less than equal folks, because the Bible is clear about that. We're both equally valuable in God's sight, but there was a space flight recently of a bunch of women and they were talking about the divine feminine and the comments. Some of the comments that I heard on X on social media talked about uh or or gave the indication of God being female, either partially or wholly or whatever. That's not in Scripture, folks, and this is why it's so important to read the Bible each day. So when people say stuff that you know, it's not true or it is true. God the Father, jesus Christ the Son true or it is true. God the Father, jesus Christ the Son.

Speaker 1:

The other thing here that I've sadly seen a number of times is certain denominations will tell you that you can pray to somebody other than God and Jesus Christ, that there were other people who lived sinless, perfect lives and that we can trace our salvation back to those people. If you read even just this one chapter out of this one book and it's confirmed by so many other places you see this always going back to Jesus Christ, not to somebody else, and it doesn't matter who it is. Not to going back to Peter or Paul or one of the apostles, or Mary or Joseph or anybody else. Going back to Jesus Christ alone. That's the only way, folks that we have. That's the only hope I have. That's the only hope you have of salvation and God as Jesus Christ. There is no other hope by any other name throughout all of history that has existed, that will exist. That's currently going on. Jesus Christ. That's the only way that we're going to gain entrance to God and heaven and eternal life. That's the only hope I've got. Folks I have messed up so royally so many times. There is no other name that's going to get me there.

Speaker 1:

Verse 2, grace and peace. Jesus Christ, not anybody else. Now for the verse five. Now, for this very reason, also, applying all diligence in your faith supply. Moral excellence and in your moral excellence. Knowledge and in your knowledge. Self-control and in your self-control. Perseverance and in your perseverance. Godliness and in your godliness. Brotherly kindness and in your brotherly kindness, love.

Speaker 1:

How many of us apply all diligence to our faith? I do not. It's like if you were here right now, you could see me raising my hand like in a classroom. I do not. I'm working on it, striving Hope. I'm doing better. I know I'm doing better at praying more often. I can tell you that. But how many of us apply all diligence to our faith? How many of us worry about moral excellence? How many of us work on knowledge? How many of us?

Speaker 1:

Well, that's one of the things that bothers me often when I catch myself falling into a sporting event or entertainment on TV like a movie, tv series, netflix right or even books, is I get done right? And if the center of that TV show or movie isn't God and Jesus Christ, or that book, or if I've given three hours to a sporting event, have I made myself a better Christian? Have I made myself a better spouse? Have I made myself a better father? Have I made myself a better son? Have I made myself a better son? Have I made myself a better friend? And if the answer is no, really to any of those things, folks, but especially as we go up that list of priorities, we need to really focus on whether we're giving time to things we ought to be giving time to and the answer is going to be no, right. And then and then again, one of the things that I look at so often is I just gave away an hour, two hours of my life and I'm never going to get that back, and it didn't make me a better individual. It certainly did not increase my brotherly kindness or love.

Speaker 1:

There's a lot more here. We could get into folks. It's a great chapter, I think, for today. We will move on to the next thing. So the next thing today is Patrick Henry Give me liberty or give me death. I don't think we've gone over this in a while. This is from March 23rd 1775. We'll just get into it.

Speaker 1:

No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the house. But different men often see the same subject in different lights and therefore I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen If, entertaining as I do opinions of a character very opposite to theirs. I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve. This is no time for ceremony. The question before the house is one of awful moment for this country. For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery, and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country and of an act of disloyalty toward the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.

Speaker 1:

How many times today, folks, are we really good at shouting our opinion at a sporting event or somewhere where we feel that it's reasonable for us to show our rear ends and act like an idiot? But how often, when it comes to the things of God, when we ought to be talking about the truth, do we hold back our commentary? How many of us are willing to acknowledge the fact that no-fault divorce isn't a thing, especially inside the churches? That's really primarily where I'm talking about. How many of us are willing to acknowledge, how many churches do we have across the country today that aren't willing to acknowledge that LGBTQ lifestyles are a sin, that LGBTQ lifestyles are a sin? How many of us, how many churches are there around the nation that don't acknowledge that feminism is evil?

Speaker 1:

When's the last time you heard a sermon or a Bible study group inside your church talking about the roles and responsibilities of men and women? And they specifically talked about the roles of women submitting to their husband and everything, respecting their husband and physically satisfying their husband each day, and those three folks. They come straight out of Ephesians 5, 1 Peter 3, 1 Corinthians 7. Or how about this? How about the responsibility of wives and mothers to be good homemakers, titus 2. When's the last time you heard a sermon talking about that? When's the last time you heard your preacher? Or again, a Bible study? Or a group of Christians openly acknowledging See, we're more comfortable with openly acknowledging abortion, lgbtq lifestyles.

Speaker 1:

But then, when we start to get a little closer to home, maybe to something we have more friends who are doing or something like that, like no-fault divorce or feminism in particular we kind of get quiet. We don't mind standing up in the bleachers yelling at the ref, the bleachers yelling at the ref. We don't even mind that much yelling at each other about politics although we've been pretty cowardly on that subject for quite a while too but only really as it relates to God and Jesus Christ. It's when we get to God and Jesus Christ, that's when we start to kind of get quiet. Well, I don't want people to think I'm weird. I don't want to be that guy, because we know, for example, that if you talk about something like feminism based on the Bible. If you talk about something like no-fault divorce based on the Bible, man, there's going to be a lot of people that don't like you very much. There's going to be a lot of people that don't want to have anything to do with you anymore and, even worse, they start to talk pretty bad about you.

Speaker 1:

Might be a really, really good time there to go back to Matthew right, Chapter 5, you remember, and in particular verse 11, blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me, rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great, for in the same way, they persecuted the prophets who were before you. You hear Patrick Henry talking here. If I kept quiet, if I kept my opinions back at such a time as this and what time is this? What did he say? For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery. That's our choice today, folks. That is absolutely our choice today. We can either choose to follow God and Jesus Christ as a nation and draw closer toward liberty and freedom, really liberty or we can choose to go the other direction, be quiet and fall under the tyranny of the left and Islam and any other imposters out there.

Speaker 1:

Huge statue somewhere, I think in Sugar Land or something in Texas right now that's been built to one of the gods, hindu or Buddha or somebody, I don't even remember. Pretty scary looking statue to begin with. It's huge, I don't remember how many feet tall Folks. That's not a positive for our nation, patrick Henry, though. He says if I kept quiet I would consider myself guilty of treason toward my country and of an act of disloyalty toward the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings. Do we revere God above president, vice president, representatives, senators? Really, really, do we revere god above the people in our community whose opinions we worry about? Are we more concerned about the opinions of others?

Speaker 1:

Mr President, it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? In a great and arduous struggle for liberty, are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not and having ears hear not the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation. For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth, to know the worst and to provide for it. Are we? Are we willing to know the whole truth?

Speaker 1:

This is one of the lies that's going to be able to prove, or one of the lies that's going to be able to prove, or one of the the item that's going to be able to prove the lie in AI, because if AI is truly independent, right. If it's truly not been swayed to the left, then on its own it's going to come to the conclusion that Jesus Christ is the truth. If there's been no basis, right. If the creators of AI haven't put anything in there except go find the truth that AI is going to be Christian. If it's not, you know that that AI system isn't really unbiased. How many of us, though, like Patrick Henry said here, how many of us are willing? Versus how many of us? And this is the Bible verse? This is another reason it's so important. When you read this at least, I hope a bunch of kids read this before they graduate high school. I would be interested to know how many, but if you read through this speech, how many would know that having eyes see not and having ears hear not is a reference back to Scripture, because we don't have the Bible as the primary textbook. That's not what our education system is centered around. So we don't realize that these great speeches, like this one by Patrick Henry, reference scripture directly.

Speaker 1:

The illusions of hope. We shut our eyes against a painful truth, I can't think. And then how long we shut our eyes against a painful truth until that song of the siren turns us into beasts. Peaceful coexistence for a number, a large number of us on the conservative patriot side, that's been our illusion and our hope for decades. Now that we can somehow peacefully coexist with the left, leftism, socialism, communism, nazism, fascism, right All just different shades of the same evil and all go hand in glove with Islam.

Speaker 1:

This illusion, this great illusion, is that we can discard God. Really, that's the center of it. It doesn't really matter. It could be again Hindus, buddhists, whatever else. That we could discard God and Jesus Christ and our country could still function and maintain liberty. It's absolutely impossible. It's an illusion, it's a false hope, and the longer we try and maintain it, the closer we get to becoming beasts fit merely for slavery.

Speaker 1:

I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, that is the lamp of experience. I know no way of judging the future, but by the past. And judging by the past, I wish to know what there has been in the conduct of the British ministry for the last ten years to justify those hopes with which gentlemen have been pleased to solace themselves and the House. Is it that insidious smile with which our petition has been lately received? Trust it not, sir. It will prove a snare to your feet. Suffer, not yourselves, to be betrayed with a kiss. A couple more right and I'm probably not even catching all of them, folks, I know I don't throughout all the documents that we read, I miss so many Because I haven't put enough time over the years into the Bible but prove a snare to your feet. That's straight out of Proverbs. Right, Betrayed with a kiss. Judas. Direct references back to scripture. Patrick Henry, one of the great all-time orators of our nation, one of the great speeches at the creation of our nation. He says I wish to know what there has been in the conduct of the British ministry for the last 10 years to justify those hopes, right, for which gentlemen have been pleased to solace themselves in the house.

Speaker 1:

What are we on the conservative Christian patriot side? What actions can you point to in the last half century to 80 plus years that we can coexist with Islam peacefully? Where do you see that? That even in a country that we think we have peaceful relationships with, that's a Muslim nation, that Muslims inside that nation that are really following the Koran right? I've told this story a number of times. I served with Muslims overseas and there were some men that I felt like I could really trust. I could turn my back on in a dark alley and there was no way somebody bad was going to get to me unless it was over their dead body. They were going to give everything they had to protect me, but they weren't very good Muslims.

Speaker 1:

It's like Easter and Christmas Christians. Like Easter and Christmas Christians. They claim to be Christian but when you look at their actions they're not very good Christians. Or like those that go to church all the time on Sunday but live a completely different way Monday through Saturday. Excuse me, but so what's this hope?

Speaker 1:

And what about leftism? Where has the left given us this hope that we can peacefully coexist with them? Inside America or inside the UK, for that matter, western civilization as a whole, and maintain liberty? Where do you see in the conduct of the left this hope for peaceful coexistence? Where do you see the hope for feminism to start to work suddenly? We've had a century of it, basically since suffrage. You look at the things that have become approved of the evils that we now encourage over the last century. Where do you get this hope that suddenly feminism is going to be a good idea? It's going to work. It's going to make our marriages and our families and our nation stronger. Our military stronger instead of weaker, our law enforcement stronger instead of weaker, our firefighters stronger instead of weaker. Where do you get these hopes, folks? You have to write.

Speaker 1:

The Bible tells us we need to be ready at any time to tell people about the hope that we have through Jesus Christ. I'm working on that. I need to work on at any time to tell people about the hope that we have through Jesus Christ. I'm working on that. I need to work on that a lot more.

Speaker 1:

But he comes up and says why do you have this hope? Hard question to answer for some of us. Something we need to think about Because there's no other way to God. The Bible specifically tells us that. Because I believe that the Bible is true, because there's historical evidence that the Bible is true Great book, by the way. A little side note here Great book If you're looking for, I feel like that kind of support to answer that question is Lee Strobel's the Case for Christ, and he does a wonderful job. There's some parts of it that are kind of thick academically, but he does a wonderful job laying out evidences from the veracity, the truth of Scripture to the actions of the apostles, to how, the timeliness of the eyewitness accounts versus what actually happened when they were written down. Just a lot of different evidences. It does a great job. I need to go back and reread that book, actually. But if you're looking for something to kind of help answer that question, why do you have this hope in Jesus Christ and the resurrection? I highly recommend that book.

Speaker 1:

But, folks, there hasn't been conduct. You know Patrick Henry here is saying well, where are we getting this confidence from the British ministry for the last 10 years to justify these hopes that we can resolve our differences and peacefully coexist with Britain as her colony, as part of the British Empire? There's no evidence, right? So what does he start to say? There's no evidence, right. So what does he start to say? He says ask yourselves how this gracious reception of our petition comports with those warlike preparations which cover our waters and darken our land. Are fleets and armies necessary to a work of love and reconciliation? So we don't have ships darkening our waters from the left or from Islam, but we have terrorism from Islam, consistently, decade after decade, and we have judicial tyr.

Speaker 1:

It's only ever for the left to buy more time. Anytime you hear the left socialism, communism, leftism, right, it's the same tactics that Mussolini and Hitler used exceptionally well in the 30s. Anytime you hear this, these overtures of peace. We want peace, we want coexistence. Never doubt it is only to buy time, to gain strength and therefore power. It's not peaceful coexistence, it's not the goal. They don't want to coexist with you, with us.

Speaker 1:

Islam isn't here to, and you can see it. There's so many videos out there right now in the UK and even the US, with Muslims talking specifically about we're going to take over. That's our goal. We're going to end up with Sharia law in the UK, in the US. Folks, just like the left. They are not here as peaceful inhabitants, they're 100% here to invade and subvert and destroy.

Speaker 1:

And what's at the core of it? Why do we have this podcast? What's at the core of it? Antichrist, antichrist, antichrist Folks. And you have to remember that, because if you don't remember that, you'll never really understand the point. Right, patrick Henry?

Speaker 1:

He's saying look, we have this hope that we can reconcile with the British, but the ministries, obviously, they've sent armies here, they've sent ships here. Look at their actions. They've rejected our petitions for peace and reconciliation. Look at the actions, folks of the left, over the last century. Look at the actions of Islam since the inception. Our very first war after the revolution was fought because the Muslims felt they had a right to do whatever they wanted to to anybody that wasn't Muslim. Their ambassador told Jefferson and Adams that.

Speaker 1:

And look at the actions of the feminists over the last century and don't buy into this illusion that if we just give them enough of what they want, like Chamberlain with Hitler in the 30s, if he just gave him enough, hitler would finally be satisfied, and he really was a peaceful guy, he really wanted peace. If we could just give him enough, he'd be happy. You're never going to be able to give feminists, muslims, islam or the left enough for them to stop and be happy folks. All the more reason to have your hope, your real hope. It's fine to have hope and the country turning around, but your real hope has to be in God and Jesus Christ. God bless y'all, god bless your families. God bless your marriages. God bless your marriages. God bless America. God bless your nation, wherever you are around the world. Listen. No-transcript.
