“How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God” is one of those lines from Jesus that nobody can soften without losing the point. We start in Luke 18 with the camel and the needle, the rich ruler who can’t let go, and the question hanging in the air: if wealth and self-control can’t save you, who can? Jesus answers with the only hope that holds up under pressure: what is impossible with people is possible with God.

From there, we keep reading straight through Luke 18, including Jesus warning the disciples about what awaits him in Jerusalem and the moment near Jericho where a blind beggar refuses to be silenced. That man’s stubborn cry for mercy is a picture of faith that’s simple, loud, and honest. We also pray through Psalm 86 and touch Proverbs 13 on pride and wise counsel, tying Bible study to daily character, leadership, and humility.

We don’t stay in the abstract. I read a marriage verse from Colossians and say the quiet part out loud: you can’t demand “husbands love” while rejecting “wives submit,” and you can’t claim God’s design while only defending the half you like. We also move into real-world headlines, a Medal of Honor story, and an argument about America’s Christian foundations and the need for public repentance and prayer. Wealth And The Kingdom

SPEAKER_01

Luke 18, starting with verse 24. When Jesus saw this, he said, How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God. In fact, it is much easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God. Those who heard this said, Then who in the world can be saved? He replied, What is impossible for people is possible with God. Lakin Riley, February 22nd, 2024, Athens, Georgia. 22-year-old nursing student was murdered while jogging on the University of Georgia's Georgia campus by Jose Antonio Ibarra, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela. Hey folks, this is Deacope back with another episode of the Emirate Soul Spock, wherever y'all are, whatever part of the day you're in. Sure to appreciate y'all joining me, giving me a little bit of your time and attention, a little piece of your day. I will try and use it wisely. For those of y'all who continue to share the podcast with others and tell others about it, thank you for those of y'all who continue to pray for me and for the podcast. Thank you very much. Very, very grateful for your prayers, especially. Father, thank you for today. Thank you for you, Father, and your son Jesus Christ and your Holy Spirit. Thank you for your love and your mercy, your grace and your forgiveness of sins through the merit of your son Jesus Christ. Thank you for the people who listen to and share the podcast. Please be with them. Be with their families. Guide them, bless them, surround them with your angels, protect them from evil. Bless the marriages of those who are married, guide those who have children in raising them to know you and your sins, Christ. Help us, Father, to do your will above all things, to love you with our whole heart, mind, soul, and strength. To love our neighbors as ourselves.

SPEAKER_00

Be with our military and our law enforcement firefighters, EMS. Guide them, bring them home safe. Be with our families.

SPEAKER_01

Keep them safe. Help us to support and encourage them. And help us to elect and appoint rulers who rule in fear of you.

SPEAKER_00

Be with those who are alone and heartbroken, Father.

Marriage Commands In Colossians

SPEAKER_01

Draw them close to you. Help us to encourage them, to support them. And guide my words here, Father, please. Your son's name we pray. Amen. Marriage verse for today. Colossians 8:3, 18 through 21. Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. Normally I read the next two, but folks, just today, just those two verses right there. For decades inside the church, inside America, and really I would argue probably most of Western civilization, we have focused on one half of the equation and not the other. And I'm sure there are times before in history where we've done it the reverse. We've focused on the other half of the equation and not the one we've been focusing on.

SPEAKER_00

If you can't openly support of God's commands for husbands and wives in marriage, then you I mean, honestly, folks, you really ought to just keep your mouth shut. Because at best you show yourself to be a hypocrite.

SPEAKER_01

At best. If you want husbands to love their wives and not to be harsh with them, to be kind and compassionate, then you have to also want wives to submit themselves to their husbands in everything.

SPEAKER_00

And vice versa.

Luke 18, 18 through 43. Once a religious leader asked Jesus this question, Good teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life? Why do you call me good? Jesus asked him. Only God is truly good. But to answer your question, you know the commandments. You must not commit adultery, you must not murder, you must not steal, you must not testify falsely. Honor your father and mother. The man replied, I have obeyed all these commandments since I was young. When Jesus heard this, he said, There is still one thing you haven't done. Sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me. But when the man heard this, he became very sad, for he was very rich. When Jesus saw this, he said, How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God. In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God. Those who heard this said, Then who in the world can be saved? He replied, What is impossible for people is possible with God. Little reminder that that is more or less the Ohio State motto. Peter said, We've left our alms to follow you. Yes, Jesus replied, and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God will be repaid many times over in this life and will have eternal life in the world to come. Taking the twelve disciples aside, Jesus said, Listen, we're going up to Jerusalem where all the predictions of the prophets concerning the Son of Man will come true. He will be handed over to the Romans, and he will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit upon. They will flog him with a whip and kill him. But on the third day he will rise again. But they didn't understand any of this. The significance of his words was hidden from them, and they failed to grasp what he was talking about. As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind beggar was sitting beside the road. When he heard the noise of a crowd going past, he asked what was happening. They told him that Jesus the Nazarene was going by, so he began shouting, Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me. Be quiet. The people in front yelled at him, but he only shouted louder, Son of David, have mercy on me. When Jesus heard him, he stopped and ordered that the man be brought to him. As the man came near, Jesus asked him, What do you want me to do for you? Lord, he said, I want to see. And Jesus said, All right, receive your sight, your faith has healed you. Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus, praising God, and all who saw it praised God too. Psalm eighty-six, one through seventeen. Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer. Answer me for I need your help. Protect me, for I am devoted to you. Save me, for I serve you and trust you. You are my God. Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I am calling on you constantly. Be happy, O Lord, for I give myself to you. O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help. Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord, hear my urgent cry. I will call to you whenever I'm in trouble, and you will answer me. No pagan goddess like you, O Lord, none can do what you do. All the nations you made will come and bow down before you, Lord. They will praise your holy name. For you are great and perform wonderful deeds. You alone are God. Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to your truth. Grant me purity of heart so that I may honor you. With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord, my God. I will give glory to your name forever, for your love for me is very great. You have rescued me from the depths of death. O God, insolent people rise up against me. A violent gang is trying to kill me. You mean nothing to them. But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. Look down and have mercy on me. Give your strength to your servant, save me, the son of your servant. Send me a sign of your favor, then those who hate me will be put to shame, for you, O Lord, help and comfort me. Proverbs thirteen, nine through ten. The life of the godly is full of light and joy, but the light of the wicked will be snuffed out. Pride leads to conflict. Those who take advice are wise. Countryside. The book of the wise. If you're looking for a middle grade fantasy series, kind of like Narnia, The Hobbit, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter. If you would check out the Countryside series, there's two books in the series so far. It's a little bit of a review from Cindy Sal. It's a five-star review off Angla. It's like a modern Narnia, but unique in its own ways. There are many biblical lessons throughout the book. I highly recommend it to any age group, young or old. Very kind review. And if you read it and you enjoy it, if you would also leave a review for the first or second book or both, those help immensely. And also, same thing with the podcasts. And if you have five or ten dollars a month that you can donate, there's a link in the show notes where you can do that. And I would be grateful for that as well. So thank you. Kwaleen Drury, Drury, convicted, 2025, Minnesota. 12-year-old girl was raped by this Somali Muslim migrant who was convicted of sexual assault. This is the key. The case gained national attention after a local Islamic center wrote a letter of support for him despite the conviction. Despite the fact that this man raped a 12-year-old girl, the Islamic center supported him over the girl. This is why I say constantly, folks, there is no such thing as a moderate follower of the whole bucket of leftism, socialism, communism, Nazism, fascism, Marxism, Leninism, whatever you want to call it, and Islam. There's no such thing as a moderate of any of those. Because if there was, when those evil atrocities are committed throughout history, the 20th century shows the whole bucket of isms very clearly and centuries of Islamic atrocities. If there was such a thing as moderates, those people would be clamoring. Every time one of those incidents happened, they would be demanding that those people be punished.

And you never see that.

Medal of Honor for John Duncan Buckley, Lieutenant, highest rank, Vice Admiral, World War II, Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron III, U.S. Navy, April 10th, 1942, Philippine Waters, Philippine Islands. For extraordinary heroism, distinguished service, and conspicuous gallantry above and beyond the call of duty as commander of Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron III in Philippine waters during the period from 7 December 1941 to 10 April 1942. The remarkable achievement of Lieutenant Commander Buckley's command in damaging or destroying a notable number of Japanese enemy planes, surface combatant and merchant ships, and in dispersing landing parties and land-based enemy forces during the four months and eight days of operation without benefit of repairs, overhaul or maintenance facilities for his squadron, is believed to be without precedence in this type of warfare. His dynamic forcefulness and daring and offensive action, his brilliantly planned and skillfully executed attacks, supplemented by a unique resourcefulness and ingenuity, characterize him as an outstanding leader of men and a gallant and intrepid seaman. These qualities, coupled with a complete disregard for his own personal safety, reflect great credit upon him and the Naval Service. Accredited to Texas, not awarded posthumously, presented August 4th, 1942, the White House by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Born August 19, 1911, San Antonio, Bear County, Texas. Died April 6, 1996, Silver Springs, Maryland. Buried Arlington National Cemetery, PM5 Tac 129, Tac 9, TAC RH, TAC LH, Arlington, Virginia.

Blessing And Sign Off

Considering the critical and calamitous state of these colonies, we recommend Thursday, the 20th of July, be observed by all the inhabitants as a day of public humiliation, fasting, and prayer. Let Christians of all denominations assemble for public worship, abstain from servile labor and recreations, and with united voices implore the merciful interposition of the great governor of the world. We were born a Christian nation, folks, not a Muslim, not a Jewish, not an atheist, secularist, deist, not a Buddhist, not a Hindu, not anything else. You can see this in this public prayer of the Congress. This is a political body telling Christians of all denominations. That's the whole thing about separation of church and state, folks. Our founders didn't want the state controlling the church or favoring a particular church, but they absolutely wanted the general principles of Christ involved in our nation. One more. Amen. God bless you all. God bless your families, your marriages, your nation, wherever you are around the world listening. God bless America. We will talk to y'all again real soon, folks. Looking forward to
