Drop us a note about the podcast.
Fear has a way of shrinking your world down to whatever headline is loudest and whatever person seems most powerful. We push back on that impulse by reading Psalm 118 out loud and letting it set the order of operations: God first, refuge first, obedience first. “The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear” isn’t sentimental, it’s a claim about where courage actually comes from when life gets ugly and trust in people starts to wobble.
From there, we move through John 12 as Jesus approaches Passover, Mary anoints His feet, and the crowds celebrate a King who rides in on a donkey. It’s a vivid reminder that real worship can look wasteful to cynical eyes, that betrayal often hides behind moral talk, and that God’s plan keeps moving even when leaders try to clamp down on it. We also read Proverbs on marriage and speak plainly about responsibility, satisfaction, and faithfulness inside the covenant, plus Proverbs 15 on wisdom, humility, and the kind of words God delights in.
We then honor Medal of Honor recipient John Edward Butts and reflect on leadership under fire, before shifting into America’s Christian heritage with a look at the stated Christian purposes behind Yale and Princeton. Whether you’re here for Bible reading, Christian marriage guidance, faith and culture, or Christian education history, the thread stays consistent: no policy can replace repentance, and no institution can fix what only God can heal.

Proverbs On Marriage Desire
SPEAKER_01Marriage verse for today, verses Proverbs 5, 18 through 19. May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth, a loving doe, a graceful deer, may her breasts satisfy you always. May you ever be intoxicated with her love. Husbands have a responsibility to be satisfied always and at all times. Wives have a responsibility to satisfy always and at all times. You get a real quick picture of who really wants to follow God and Jesus Christ in their marriages. When you take a look at or just read this to people inside the church. Doesn't take long.
Jesus Anointed And Entering Jerusalem
SPEAKER_01John 11, 55 through 1219. It was now almost time for the Jewish Passover celebration. And many people from all over the country arrived in Jerusalem several days early so they could go through the purification ceremony before Passover began. They kept looking for Jesus, but as they stood around in the temple, they said to each other, What do you think? He won't come for Passover, will he? Meanwhile, the leading priests and Pharisees had publicly ordered that anyone seeing Jesus must report it immediately so that they could arrest him. Six days before the Passover celebration began, Jesus arrived in Bethany, the home of Lazarus. The man he had raised from the dead, a dinner was prepared in Jesus' honor. Martha served, and Lazarus was among those who ate with him. Then Mary took a twelve ounce jar of expensive perfume made from essence of nard, and she anointed Jesus' feet with it, wiping his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance. But Judas Iscariot, the disciple who would soon betray him, said That perfume was worth a year's wages. It should have been sold and the money given to the poor. Not that he cared for the poor, he was a thief, and since he was in charge of the disciples' money, he often stole some for himself. Jesus replied, Leave her alone. She did this in preparation for my burial. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me. When all the people heard of Jesus' arrival, they flocked to see him, and also to see Lazarus, the man Jesus had raised from the dead. Then the leading priest decided to kill Lazarus too, for it was because of him that many of the people had deserted them and believed in Jesus. The next day the news that Jesus was on the way to Jerusalem swept through the city. A large crowd of Passover visitors took palm branches and went down the road to meet him. They shouted, Praise God! Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord. Hail to the king of Israel. Jesus found a young donkey and rode on it, fulfilling the prophecy that said, Don't be afraid, people of Jerusalem. Look, your king is coming riding on a donkey's colt. His disciples didn't understand at the time that this was a fulfillment of prophecy. But after Jesus entered into his glory, they remembered what had happened and realized that these things had been written about him. Many in the crowd had seen Jesus call Lazarus from the tomb, raising him from the dead, and they were telling others about it. That was the reason so many went out to meet him, because they had heard about this miraculous sign. Then the Pharisees said to each other, There's nothing we can do. Look, everyone has gone after him. Psalm
Psalm 118 And Refuge In God
SPEAKER_01one hundred eighteen verses one through eighteen. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, his faithful love endures forever. Let all Israel repeat, his faithful love endures forever. Let Aaron's descendants, the priests, repeat, his faithful love endures forever. Let all who fear the Lord repeat, his faithful love endures forever. In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free. The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me? Yes, the Lord is for me, he will help me. I will look in triumph at those who hate me. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes. We need to remember that today in America, folks. There's no politician or policy that can save us if we don't first and foremost turn back to God and Jesus Christ. Though hostile nations surround me, I destroyed them all with the authority of the Lord. Yes, they surrounded and attacked me, but I destroyed them all with the authority of the Lord. They swarmed around me like bees, they blazed against me like a crackling fire, but I destroyed them all with the authority of the Lord. My enemies did their best to kill me, but the Lord rescued me. The Lord is my strength and my song, he has given me victory. Songs of joy and victory are sung in the camp of the godly. The strong right arm of the Lord has done glorious things. The strong right arm of the Lord is raised in triumph. The strong right arm of the Lord has done glorious things. I will not die. Instead I will live to tell what the Lord has done. The Lord has punished me severely, but he did not let me die.
Proverbs On Wisdom And Words
SPEAKER_01Proverbs fifteen, twenty-four through twenty-six. The path of life leads upward for the wise. They leave the grave behind. The Lord tears down the house of the proud, but he protects the property of widows. The Lord detests evil plans, but he delights in pure words.

Medal Of Honor Valor Remembered
SPEAKER_01of Honor for today, John Edward Butts, Second Lieutenant World War II, Echo Company, 60th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division, U.S. Army, June 23rd, 1944, Normandy, France. Heroically led his platoon against an enemy in Normandy, France on 14, 16, and 23 June, 1944. Although painfully wounded on the 14th near Orgland, Orgland is and again on the 16th while spearheading an attack to establish a bridgehead across the Dove River. He refused medical aid and remained with his platoon. A week later near Floatmanville Hog. He led or Hague, he led an assault on a tactically important and stubbornly defended hill studded with tanks, anti-tank guns, pillboxes, and machine gun emplacements, and protected by concentrated artillery and mortar fire. As the attack was launched, Second Lieutenant Butts at the head of his platoon was critically wounded by German machine gun fire. Although weakened by his injuries, he rallied his men and directed one squad to make a flanking movement while he alone made a frontal assault to draw the hostile fire upon himself. Once more he was struck, but by grim determination and sheer courage continued to crawl ahead. When within ten yards of his objective he was killed by direct fire. By his superb courage, unflinching valor, and inspiring action, Second Lieutenant Butts enabled his platoon to take a formidable strong point and contributed greatly to the success of his battalion's mission. Credited to Buffalo, Erie County, New York, awarded posthumously, born August eighth, nineteen twenty two, Medina, Orleans County, New York, died June twenty third, nineteen forty-four, France, buried St. Mary Cemetery, Medina, New York, location of Metal Public Library, Medina, New York. Yale Princeton And Christian Education
SPEAKER_01Father, hope that we have enough left. So I wanted to go back and read a couple more of these founding purposes from our American education. You can point to a number of things. Family, marriage and family is the biggest single one right next to, right behind, rejection of God and Jesus Christ. And so it's important to go back and look and see that at our founding, before and during the revolution and after, that we closely intertwine education and Christianity, right? Not imposters, not Islam, not Judaism, not atheism, secularism, Buddhism, Hinduism, but Christianity. Yale University 1701. It was founded by congregationalist ministers, and their purpose, stated purpose, out of zeal for upholding and propagating the Christian Protestant religion. It's just a fact of the matter, folks, that the vast majority, overwhelming majority of the colonies were Christian. And then the overwhelming majority of the Christians were Protestant. And that was the condition and the founding of our nation. The purpose of Yale, right, um was to train these students to be ministers and leaders. And and their job was to know Jesus Christ and to live godly lives. The motto light and truth. And it features two uh Hebrew words, Uram and Thummon from the high priest's blessed breastplate, right? Old Testament. Exodus twenty-eight thirty, I think.
SPEAKER_00That symbolized guidance, light, perfection, truth. Yeah, one more. Princeton.
SPEAKER_01College of New Jersey, 1746, pre-revolution. Presbyterian. Again, for training ministers and Christian leaders in general. The president was Reverend Jonathan Dix Dickinson. And he really focused on tying education into Christianity. The motto was under God's power she flourishes. And the seal many of the early earlier versions, right, had an open Bible with the Old and New Testaments. I think if this is correct, the current seal maintains that open Bible with the Old and New Testaments. Although our current state of our education in the United States certainly doesn't associate itself with Christianity, right? If we really want to fix education, folks, the very first thing we have to do is turn our education system, particularly our public education system, back to being centered on God and Jesus Christ. And again, in the first episode that we do for the new podcast, Americans, America's Christian Heritage, we're going to talk, do a little bit more of a deeper dive into some of these early ties with education and Christianity.
The Lord’s Prayer And Farewell
SPEAKER_01Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not to temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power of the glory forever and ever. Amen. God bless y'all. God bless your families, your marriages if you're married, your children if you have them. God bless your nation wherever you are around the world listening. God bless America. We'll talk to y'all again real soon, folks. Looking forward to it.
