Lamentations And The Case For National Return To God

Drop us a note about the podcast.
A nation can look “fine” on paper and still feel like it’s grieving. We open with Lamentations and let the words land the way they were meant to: as a blunt inventory of disgrace, exhaustion, violence, and joy turned to mourning, paired with the stubborn confession that the Lord remains the same forever. We’re not trying to play Bible bingo with the news. We’re asking a harder question: when our culture feels hollowed out, do we have the courage to call it sin, name the loss, and actually return to God for restoration?
From there we shift to Christian marriage and read 1 Corinthians 11:7–9, then talk about how rare it is to hear clear, unembarrassed teaching on what Scripture says about men, women, and purpose in marriage. A short clip online sparks a bigger point: sometimes a simple, honest statement about God’s design cuts through more fog than years of vague church talk. Whether you agree or disagree, we challenge you to grapple with the text itself and consider what faithful love, service, and submission require in everyday life.
We also touch current events and the way ideology shapes how people interpret crime, safety, and responsibility, then honor heroism by reading the Medal of Honor citation for Marine Hector Albert Cafferata Jr. Finally, we reflect on Truman’s decision to recognize the State of Israel and quote modern public figures whose language about Jews and “Zionists” raises serious concerns. If you’re hungry for a biblical worldview, Christian cultural commentary, and practical hope that doesn’t flinch, subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review where you listen.

Lamentations And A Modern Crime Note
SPEAKER_00Lamentations five Starting with verse nineteen. But Lord you remain the same forever. Your throne continues from generation to generation. Why do you continue to forget us? Why have you abandoned us for so long? Restore us, O Lord, and bring us back to you again. Give us back the joys we once had? Or have you utterly rejected us? Are you angry with us still? 2017?
SPEAKER_01Fifteen-year-old girl was kidnapped and raped.
SPEAKER_00Multiple adult women were raped between 2024 and 2025.
SPEAKER_01At least five victims of kidnappings and sexual assaults.
SPEAKER_00Abdimomet or het believe Mohammed. This is from Minnesota.
SPEAKER_01Mohammed charged with kidnapping a minor and kidnapping in general. Kidnapped and getting raped a 15-year-old in 2017. He had a prior state conviction for criminal sexual conduct. He's 28.
SPEAKER_00A Somali Muslim. And again, folks, when you when you see the people in your community that vote for the left, which is predominantly today the Democratic Party, yes, but just the left in general, leftism, socialism, Marxism, Nazism, Fascism, all of that stuff, right, kind of falls in one big umbrella, regardless of how people try and differentiate them. The end is the same, even if the means to get there is different. When they vote for that stuff, folks, this is literally what they're voting for. Regardless of what they say, regardless of what they tell you, they're voting for policies and politicians that produce these results.
Welcome, Gratitude, And Opening Prayer
SPEAKER_00Hey folks, this is Jesse Coop, back with another episode of the American Soul Podcast. Hope y'all are doing well. Wherever y'all are, whatever part of the day you're in. Sure to appreciate y'all joining me, giving me a little bit of your time and attention, a little piece of your day. I'll try and use it wisely. Uh for those of y'all who continue to share the podcast and tell others about it, thank you. For those of y'all who continue to join us over on the America's Christian Heritage Podcast, thank you. I'm putting another one of those out on the 25th, theoretically. Uh, and for those of y'all who continue to pray for me and for the podcast, thank you very much. Very, very grateful for your prayers. Father, thank you for today. Thank you for you, Father, and your son, Jesus Christ, and your Holy Spirit. Thank you for your love and your mercy, your grace and your forgiveness of sins through the merit of your son, Jesus Christ. Thank you, Father, that you don't give up on us even when we go astray, time and again like lost sheep, when we go back to the same old sins and turn to the same false gods when we follow after this world instead of after you. Please forgive us. Have mercy and pity on us. Remember that we are only human for the sake of your son Jesus Christ. Please be with our military, our law enforcement firefighters. Father, be with all those who have lost blood in the line of duty, those that we have left behind. Be with those particularly who have died recently, plane crashes, combat. Those we we don't know about, Father, law enforcement, firefighters, EMS, line of duty. Please give them wisdom, give them courage, strength, and speed, a strong faith, and be with their families and guide our leaders. Help our leaders, Father, and in all walks of life to rule in fear of you. And guide my words here, please. In your son's name we pray. Amen.
Marriage Scripture And Biblical Roles
SPEAKER_00Marriage verse verses for today. First Corinthians 11, 7 through 9. A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man. For man did not come from woman, but woman from man. Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. I saw a video. I can't even remember where it was, whether it was on Instagram or TikTok or whatever, folks. You do find some good stuff on there occasionally if you can force yourself to use it very judiciously. But it was a woman talking about the fact that she acknowledged, recognized, and acted as if she were made for her husband and not the other way around. That she was created for him by God. And the thought strikes me that in just her one little post I have managed to see more of scriptural marriage, biblically accurate commentary in that five-second little clip than I have seen in many, many churches in different states of different denominations across the nation in all of my adult life.
SPEAKER_01I'm not saying there's not churches out there that don't teach it, folks.
SPEAKER_00But I'm betting that most of you would have to struggle really hard to think when the last time your pastor talked about 1 Corinthians 11, 7 through 9, and specifically the fact that God says man was not created for woman, but woman for man. To help him, to please him, to serve him, to satisfy him, to submit to him. All of those straight out of the Bible, folks. Verse and chapter. Bible verses for today, we're gonna switch this up a little bit.
America Through The Lens Of Lamentations
SPEAKER_00I stumbled across something in Lamentations that's out of order for our normal Bible reading, but it just struck me as so very applicable to the state of our nation here in America today, the United States. And really add the UK, pretty much most of Western civilization, if not all of Western civilization exists. But um for me, it just resonated so much with our current condition in America. So we're gonna read Lamentations, start with uh chapter 5, verse 1, and then we're gonna go backwards and read a little bit out of Lamentations 3. So we're gonna start with 5.1. Lord, remember what has happened to us. See how we have been disgraced. Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers. And while we're reading this, folks, see if if you feel that way, you may not, but as we go through it, see if you can't see the parallels here between Israel in the Old Testament and us today in America. Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, our homes to foreigners. We are orphaned and fatherless, our mothers are widowed. We have to pay for water to drink, and even firewood is expensive. Those who pursue us are at our heels, we are exhausted but are given no rest. We submitted to Egypt and Assyria to get enough food to survive. Our ancestors sinned, but they have died, and we are suffering the punishment they deserved. Slaves have now become our masters, there is no one left to rescue us. We hunt for food at the risk of our lives, for violence rules the countryside. The famine has blackened our skin as though baked in an oven. Our enemies rape the women in Jerusalem and the young girls in all the towns of Judah. Our princes are being hanged by their thumbs, and our elders are treated with contempt. Young men are led away to work at millstones, and boys stagger under heavy loads of wood. The elders no longer sit in the city gates, the young men no longer dance and sing. Joy has left our hearts, our dancing has turned to mourning. The garlands have fallen from our heads. Weep for us because we have sinned. Our hearts are sick and weary, and our eyes grow dim with tears. For Jerusalem is empty and desolate, a place haunted by jackals. But Lord, you remain the same forever. Your throne continues from generation to generation. Why do you continue to forget us? Why have you abandoned us for so long? Restore us, O Lord, and bring us back to you again. Give us back the joys we once had. Or have you utterly rejected us? Are you angry with us still? I think that's pretty apparent, the comparison there. But maybe you have a different opinion. But we're going to go back and give a little hope to ourselves. We're going to read Lamentations 3.
Mercy, Discipline, And Real Hope
SPEAKER_00We're going to start with verse 19. The thought of my suffering and homelessness is bitter beyond words. I will never forget this awful time as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this. The faithful love of the Lord never ends. His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness, his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, The Lord is my inheritance, therefore I will hope in him. The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord. And it is good for people to submit at an early age to the yoke of his discipline. Let them sit alone in silence beneath the Lord's demands, let them lie face down in the dust, for there may be hope at last. Let them turn the other cheek to those who strike them, and accept the insults of their enemies. For no one is abandoned by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion. Because of the greatness of his unfailing love, for he does not enjoy hurting people or causing them sorrow. Remember Proverbs, in addition to that last verse there, that God disciplines those he loves, like the father, the son he loves. Right.
Books, Reviews, And Listener Support
SPEAKER_00If you are looking for a family-friendly, hopefully, with a little bit of faith involved, middle school read, kind of like Narnia the Hobbit, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, Fable Haven. If you would check out the Countryside series, there's two books in the series: The Book of the Wise, Tears of Anina. And if you enjoy those, if you would leave a review, those reviews help immensely. Same thing for the podcast. If you feel like you're getting something out of it, uh if you would leave a review wherever you listen to the podcast and tell others about it. And if you would, if you have it, a cup of coffee, the price of a cup of coffee each month, there's a link in the show notes where you can find to purchase the book, hardback, paperback, ebook, and also where you can support the podcast five or ten dollars a month. And I would be very grateful for any or all of those. So thank you very much.
UK Assault Case And Cultural Warning
SPEAKER_00July 2025. Ed Anwar Najar, York, UK, York City Center, Shambles Market Area. 21-year-old Egyptian Muslim national entered the UK illegally in 2022, failed asylum seeker, met the victim in the Voodoo Lounge Nightclub. Door staff warned him to stay away, but he left with her anyway, lured her to the Shambles Market area where he raped and sexually assaulted her. The victim was found distressed without trousers, underwear, and later reported the attack. He initially denied the offenses, but later pled guilty. The victim obviously suffered significant trauma. There is no peaceful coexistence with followers of the left or Islam folks.
Medal Of Honor Courage Under Fire
SPEAKER_00Medal of Honor for today, Hector Albert Cafarada Jr. Private Korean War Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division Reinforced, U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. November 28th, 1950. Tok Tong Pass, Korea. For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as a rifleman with Fox Company in action against enemy aggressor forces. When all the other members of his fire team became casualties, creating a gap in the lines during the initial phase of a vicious attack launched by a fanatical enemy of regimental strength against his company's hill position. Private Caferada waged a lone battle with grenades and rifle fire as the attack gained momentum, and the enemy threatened penetration through the gap and endangered the integrity of the entire defensive perimeter. Making a target of himself under the devastating fire from automatic weapons, rifles, grenades, and mortars, he maneuvered up and down the line and delivered accurate and effective fire against the onrushing force, killing 15, wounding many more, and forcing the others to withdraw so that reinforcements could move up and consolidate the position. Again, fighting desperately against a renewed onslaught later that same morning when a hostile grenade landed in a shallow entrenchment occupied by wounded Marines, Private Caferata rushed into the gully under the heavy fire, seized a deadly missile in his right hand, and hurled it free of his comrades before it detonated, severing part of one finger and seriously wounding him in the right hand and arm. Courageously ignoring the intense pain, he staunchly fought on until he was struck by a sniper's bullet and forced to submit to evacuation for medical treatment. Stout-hearted and indomitable, private Caferata, by his fortitude, great personal valor, and dauntless perseverance in the face of almost certain death, saved the lives of several of his fellow Marines and contributed essentially to the success achieved by this company in maintaining its defensive position against tremendous odds. His extraordinary heroism throughout was in keeping with the highest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service. Accredited to Dover Morris County, New Jersey, not awarded posthumously, presented November 24, 1952 at the White House by President Harry S. Truman. Born November 4th, 1929, New York, died April 12th, 2016, Venice, Florida, buried Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, Virginia, United States. Hector Albert Caferada, Jr. Okay, so I know that we're over. We're gonna be over. I stumbled into something.
Truman, Israel, And Anti-Semitic Rhetoric
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna talk about it at least a little bit for a few minutes, with President Harry S. Truman. And it was how tough his decision was to create the State of Israel at the end, uh, after World War II. And Margaret Thatcher actually made the comment paraphrasing her quote that the hardest decision he had to make was not whether to use the atomic bomb or not, but whether to create the state of Israel, that that was how fierce, how strong passions were on the subject. I have noticed over the last several years a increase in commentary in multiple circles where it's supposedly Christians that are making blatantly anti-Semitic comments that they claim are not anti-Semitic, but they they obviously are Zionist, Jew, et cetera, that are so very in line with what I have read historically about the attitude and commentary, especially in upper crust political wealth journalist circles in the 1920s and 30s across a lot of Europe, particularly in Britain. And so I wanted to read a couple quotes from today and compare them to a couple quotes from history. And so I think probably what we'll do is we'll just do one of each today, and maybe we'll come back on the podcast since we're so far over and do one of each on the next podcast. The first one that I want to read is from Reverend Jeremiah Wright, who was the former senior pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ. He was very tied to Obama, President Obama, if you remember that. And in June of 2009, this was a quote that he made. Ethnic cleansing is going on in Gaza. Ethnic cleansing by the Zionist is a sin and a crime against humanity. And this is not someone perhaps that you would go, oh, well, that's that's really a Christian circle. You might have some jaded view of him. So just on the offhand chance, I'll go ahead, I'll read another one today from current. This is from Candace Owens, if you know her. And it's from September 27, 2025. The mind of a satanic Zionist is truly fascinating. We need to own, threaten, and destroy more. She claims she's quoting the Jews there. There is quite literally no truth in these people. And another one, uh Nick Fuentas, if you're familiar with him, he's and I'll talk about the scope of their influence in just a minute. This is from April 23rd of this year, 2026. Trump and his Zionist backers intentionally used mass deportations as bait to get white people to vote for him so that he could take us to war in Iran. This is the conceit of Republican politics using right-wing culture war to conscript voters to back the special interests. Okay, so you think, well, these people, you know, not much going on, but you've got to remember that Wright had access to the president. Okay. Owens currently has uh somewhere in the neighborhood of seven to eight million followers on social media, depending on what social media you're talking about. I should say across multiple different platforms, six million on some, all the way up to almost eight million on others. Fuentus uh has a little bit over a million and a quarter. And so these are not just random people in a bubble that are making these comments, and they're people that self-proclaimed, you can make the argument their actions don't follow in line with that, but self-proclaimed Christians. And this is just a small, very small example of some of the commentary that's going on out there in supposedly Christian circles, with people talking about how evil the Jews are, the Zionists, right? Not talking about the Muslims, right? Who who are the almost overwhelming universal percentage of our terrorists attacked by for the last however many decades? Muslims. Uh, you know, there's some notable exceptions, but good grief. Uh but but so I think we've gone enough for today. So what I'll do is these are just some quotes from today, the last 15 years, give or take. And so tomorrow or on the next podcast, we'll come back and we'll read some quotes from uh 1920s and 30s by uh politicians, journalists, upper crust as far as high-income society people in Britain in the 1920s and 30s. And I think Well, I'll just let the quotes kind of talk for themselves, and y'all can draw your own opinions there.
Lord’s Prayer And Closing Blessing
SPEAKER_00Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not to temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen. God bless y'all. God bless your families, your marriages if you're married, your kids if you have them, your nation, wherever you are around the world listening. God bless America. We'll talk to you all again real soon, folks. Looking forward to it.
