Drop us a note about the podcast.
We read Acts 4 and sit with Peter’s blunt claim that salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone, then we test what that means when people demand religious gatekeepers and spiritual “extras.” We also move from Scripture to daily life with marriage guidance, a call to kindness, and a challenge to measure our courage against real examples of sacrifice.
• Acts 4: the healed man, the rejected cornerstone, and the name of Jesus
• Salvation through Christ alone, not labels or spiritual substitutes
• Boldness under pressure and obedience to God over men
• The early believers united in prayer, generosity, and mission
• 1 Corinthians 7 on marriage intimacy, consent, and self-control
• Psalm 124 and Proverbs 16:24 on rescue and kind speech
• Medal of Honor reflection on duty, sacrifice, and legacy
• “America the Beautiful,” the Lord’s Prayer, and a closing blessing

SPEAKER_00Acts 4, starting with verse 10. Let me clearly state to all of you and to all people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified, but whom God raised from the dead. For Jesus is the one referred to in the scriptures where it says the stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone. There is salvation and no one else. God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Abdimahat

Opening Prayer For Strength
SPEAKER_00thank you for today, this day that you have made. Thank you for you, Father, and your Son Jesus Christ and your Holy Spirit. Thank you for the guidance and the wisdom and the courage you give us. Thank you that we can trust you to never forsake us nor lead us, so that you will get our souls safely home to you through the good times and the bad. Help us to trust you, Father. When we don't understand what's going on, when we're afraid, when everything seems to be going wrong in our personal life, our families, marriages, country, the world. Help us to remember that your son Jesus Christ suffered through dark times, that your prophets have suffered, that the apostles, the disciples suffered. Help us to cling to that hope that we have because of your son Jesus Christ, that one day we will get to spend eternity in heaven with you. Where there is no more sorrow or tears or heartache or pain, just joy, happiness, love, peace, safety for all of eternity. Never ending. With no end in sight. Father guide our leaders in the pulpit and in the state, president, vice president on down, admirals, generals, senators, representatives, governors, mayors, city councilmen, judges, be with our military, our law enforcement, our firefighters, be with our farmers and our ranchers, foresters, fishers, those who grow our crops.
SPEAKER_01Raise our food. Be with their families.
SPEAKER_00And God, my word, to your father, please, in your son's name we pray. Amen.
Marriage Intimacy And Self-Control
SPEAKER_00Marriage verses for today, 1 Corinthians 7, 3 through 6. The husband should meet his wife's sexual needs, and the wife should do the same for her husband. The wife doesn't have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise, the husband doesn't have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Don't refuse to meet each other's needs unless you both agree for a short period of time to devote yourselves to prayer, then come back together again, so that Satan might not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. I'm saying this to give you permission. It's not a command. You don't have to abstain, but you can, if you both agree, for a short period of time, to give yourselves over to fasting and prayer. Acts
Acts 4 Healing And Authority
SPEAKER_004, 1 through 37. While Peter and John were speaking to the people, they were confronted by the priests, the captain of the temple guard, and some of the Sadducees. These leaders were very disturbed that Peter and John were teaching the people that through Jesus there is a resurrection of the dead. We're going to come back to that in a minute. They didn't like the fact that they were going outside of them and their control straight to Jesus. They arrested them, and since it was already evening, put them in jail until morning. But many of the people who heard their message believed it, so the number of men who believed now totaled about 5,000. The next day the council of all the rulers and elders and teachers of religious law met in Jerusalem. Annas, the high priest, was there along with Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and other relatives of the high priest. They brought in the two disciples and demanded, By what power or in whose name have you done this? Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, Rulers and elders of our people, are we being questioned today because we've done a good deed for a crippled man? Do you want to know how he was healed? Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified, but whom God raised from the dead. For Jesus is the one referred to in Scriptures where it says, the stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone. There is salvation in no one else. God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.
No Denomination Between You And Christ
SPEAKER_00You look at this, verse 12, you go back and look at verse 2, and you see some very similar comparisons to some denominations today that try and tell you that you need something else besides Jesus Christ or someone else. That there's you don't just have to have Jesus Christ, you also have to be a member of their denomination, or that there's other ways that you can get there. You can pray to someone else: John the Baptist, the disciples, Mary, Joseph, Pope, priest, pastor, cultural icon, whatever it is, folks. There is salvation in no one else. There's not a single denomination. Baptist, Methodist, Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox, anything else that you will find in the Bible. The thief on the cross had no denomination. Jesus Christ had no denomination. The 5,000 believers mentioned here in Acts 4 had no denomination. All you need is to confess that Jesus Christ is the risen Son of God and choose to believe that. It's a choice, folks. It's not a magical recipe. It's just a choice that you make. You get that opportunity. Can't encourage him to make anything, to do anything more than that. Then the members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus. That falls 13 falls right in line with what we were just talking about. There's some denominations that really don't like the fact that you can go straight to the Bible, that you don't need any intermediary besides Jesus Christ. But since they could see the man who had been healed standing right there among them, there was nothing the council could say. So they ordered Peter and John out of the council chamber and conferred among themselves. What should we do with these men? They asked each other. We can't deny that they have performed a miraculous sign. And everybody in Jerusalem knows about it. But to keep them from spreading their propaganda any further, we must warn them not to speak to anyone in Jesus' name again. So they called the apostles back in and commanded them never again to speak or teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John replied, Do you think God wants us to obey you rather than him? We cannot stop telling about everything we have seen and heard. The council then threatened them further, but they finally let them go because they didn't know how to punish them without starting a riot. For everyone was praising God for this miraculous sign, the healing of a man who had been lame for more than forty years. I can't harp on this enough, folks. If somebody is upset with you that you don't belong to their denomination, or that if they're talking to you when they talk to you, and what they're really excited about is members joining their particular denomination instead of people following Christ. That sounds an awful lot. Like the fat Sadducees and Pharisees being really upset that Peter and John had healed a man who was lame for more than 40 years.
The Church Prays For Boldness
SPEAKER_00As soon as they were freed, Peter and John returned to the other believers and told them what the leading priests and the elders had said. When they heard the report, all the believers lifted their voices together in prayer to God. O sovereign Lord, creator of heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them, you spoke long ago by the Holy Spirit to our ancestor David, your servant, saying, Why were the nations so angry? Why did they waste their time with futile plans? The kings of the earth prepared for battle, the rulers gathered together against the Lord and his Messiah. In fact, this has happened here in this very city. For Herod Antipas, Pontius Pilate, the governor, the Gentiles, and the people of Israel were all united against Jesus, your holy servant, whom you anointed. But everything they did was determined beforehand according to your will, and now, O Lord, hear their threats and give us your servants great boldness in preaching your word. Stretch out your hand with healing power. May miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus. After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were filled with the Holy Spirit, then they preached the word of God with boldness. All the believers were united in heart and mind, they felt, and they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God's great blessing was upon them all. There were no needy people among them because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need. For instance, there was Joseph, the one the apostles nicknamed Barnabas, which means son of encouragement. He was from the tribe of Levi and came from the island of Cyprus. He sold a field, he owned, and brought the money to the apostles. Psalm 124, one through eight. What if the Lord had not been on our side? Let all Israel repeat. What if the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us? They would have swallowed us alive in their burning anger, the waters would have engulfed us, a torrent would have overwhelmed us. Yes, the raging waters of their fury would have overwhelmed our very lives. Praise the Lord, who did not let their teeth tear us apart. We escaped like a bird from a hunter's trap. The trap is broken and we are free. Our Lord is from our help is from the Lord who made heaven and earth. Proverbs
Kind Words And Cultural Conflict
SPEAKER_0016, 24. Kind words are like honey, sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. Folks, it's not hard to be kind. It's really not. It's not difficult. Just be kind. Sadiq Nickzah at Falkirk, Scotland, rape of a 15-year-old girl, 2025, 20-year-old Afghan asylum seeker who entered the UK illegally on a small boat. Muslim raped the 15-year-old girl. His defense is that he reported cultural differences. There are, folks, he's right about that. There is no peaceful coexistence for Christians in a Christian nation alongside people who follow leftism, communism, socialism, Marxism, Nazism, Fascism, or Islam. All of those go hand in glove.
Medal Of Honor And Sacrifice
SPEAKER_00Medal of Honor for today, Daniel Judson Callahan, Rear Admiral, World War II, USS San Francisco, flagship, U.S. Navy, November 12th to the 13th, 1942, Iron Bottom Sound, Sabo Island, Solomon Islands. For extraordinary heroism and conspicuous intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty during action against Japanese forces off Sabo Island on the night of 12 to 13 November 1942. Although outbalanced in strength and numbers by a desperate and determined enemy, Rear Admiral Callahan, with ingenious tactical skill and superb coordination of the units under his command, led his forces into battle against tremendous odds, thereby contributing decisively to the rout of a powerful invasion fleet, and to the consequent frustration of a formidable Japanese offensive. While faithfully directing close-range operations in the face of furious bombardment by superior enemy firepower, he was killed on the bridge of his flagship. His courageous initiative, inspiring leadership, and judicious foresight in a crisis of grave responsibility were in keeping with the finest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service. He gallantly gave his life in the defense of his country. Credited to Oakland, Alameda County, California, awarded posthumously presented December 9, 1942 at the White House by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to his son. Born July 26, 1890, San Francisco, died November 13, 1942, Solomon Islands, buried ABMC Manila Cemetery, Wall of the Missing, Buried at Sea, Manila, Philippine Islands. Daniel Judson Callahan. Are we willing to do as much, folks? Do we really deserve the legacy of our forefathers? Sometimes I wonder, myself included, folks, I'm talking to myself as much as any of y'all. Are we willing to sacrifice? Are we willing to die for God? Right? Are we willing? You look at these Medal of Honor winners that we read each day. You look at Peter and John going in before the Sadducees and Pharisees. Are we willing to sacrifice for God and Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and our country? America
America The Beautiful And Closing Prayer
SPEAKER_00the Beautiful was written by Catherine Lee Bates after a trip to Pikes Peak, Colorado in 1893.
SPEAKER_01When she got to the top of Pike's Peak, she's quoted, All the wonder of America seemed displayed there with the sea-like expanse.
SPEAKER_00Considered to be the American national hymn, whereas the Star Spangled Banner is the national anthem. Oh beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain, for purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain. America, America, God shed his grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea. O beautiful for pilgrim feet, whose stern and passion stress, a thoroughfare for freedom beat across the wilderness. America, America, God mend thine every flaw, confirm thy soul and self control thy liberty and law. O beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife, who more than self their country loved, and mercy more than life. America, America, may God thy gold refine, till all success be nobleness and every gain divine. O beautiful for patriot dream but sees beyond the years, thine alabaster cities gleam, undimmed by human tears. America America, God shed his grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen. God bless y'all, God bless your families, your marriages if you're married, your children if you have 'em, your nation, wherever you are, around the world listening. God bless America. We'll talk to y'all again real soon, folks. Looking forward to it.
