Drop us a note about the podcast.

A single line from Scripture can pull you out of a spiral, and this conversation starts right there: “From the depths of despair, O Lord, I call for your help.” We lean into Psalm 130’s honesty about sin, mercy, and why real hope is built on God’s forgiveness, not our ability to pretend we’re fine. If you’ve felt anxious, worn down, or stuck replaying failure, you’ll hear a clear reminder that God’s redemption is not fragile and his word is meant to be trusted.

Then we get painfully practical about Christian marriage. Reading 1 Peter 3, I talk about how a wife’s conduct can speak louder than words, and why “inner beauty” is not a slogan but a real spiritual strength. I also challenge husbands: treat your wife with respect and consideration, because Scripture warns that your prayer life can be hindered when you don’t. If you’re looking for Bible-based marriage advice that cuts through modern noise, this section lands with clarity.

We also spend time in Acts 8, from Simon’s attempt to buy God’s gift to Philip’s unexpected roadside discipleship with the Ethiopian official reading Isaiah. It’s a picture of how biblical instruction works in real life: honest questions, clear answers, and the good news about Jesus leading to baptism and joy. Along the way, we remember American heritage through a Medal of Honor spotlight, Abraham Lincoln’s words on national trial, and a thought-provoking note about the Treaty of Paris and faith language tied to America’s founding.

Psalm Cry For Mercy

SPEAKER_00

Psalm 133 Starting with verse 1. From the depths of despair, O Lord, I call for your help. Hear my cry, O Lord. Pay attention to my prayer. Lord, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive? But you offer forgiveness that we might learn to fear you. I am counting on the Lord, yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word.

1993 WTC Bombing Recounted

SPEAKER_00

February 26, 1993. World Trade Center, New York City. Truck bomb. Detonated in the underground parking garage, creating a hundred-foot crater. The goal was to topple the towers and kill tens of thousands. Group of Muslims led by I won't name them. They don't deserve it. But they were all illegal immigrants or overstayed visas. But they were Muslims again. Six were killed. A thousand were injured. Obviously lead up to September 11th, less than ten years later. There is no peaceful coexistence with Muslims or with followers of the left, Marxism, Communism, Soism, folks. It's a a foolish pipe dream to think there is.

Marriage Guidance From 1 Peter

SPEAKER_00

Marriage verses for today, 1 Peter 3, 1 through 7. Wives, in the same way, submit yourselves to your own husbands, so that if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. Your beauty should not come from outward adornments such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her Lord. You are her daughters, if you do what is right and do not give way to fear. Husbands, in the same way, be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the generous gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers. There's so many women, folks, today that they don't understand that what makes a wife truly beautiful to their husband is their actions. Right? You you see this in this verse here. They may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives. And husbands, I think so many of us struggle. We struggle with our prayer life, whether it's just doing it or wondering whether God, you know, is really listening or hearing. And it's maybe a simple thing, maybe not, but are we being considerate with our wives? Because it tells us here pretty clearly there's there's the risk of hindering our prayer life. Your marriage advice at the end of the day, again, folks, it has to come from Scripture. Has to be in line with Scripture wherever you're getting it. And if it's not, then all it's doing is hurting you and those you care about.

Acts 8 And True Repentance

SPEAKER_00

Acts 8, 14 through 40. When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that the people of Samaria had accepted God's message, they sent Peter and John there. As soon as they arrived, they prayed for these new believers to receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them, for they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then Peter and John laid their hands upon these believers and they received the Holy Spirit. When Simon saw that the Spirit was given, when the apostles laid their hands on people, he offered them money to buy this power. Let me have this power too, he exclaimed, so that when I lay my hands on people, they will receive the Holy Spirit. But Peter replied, May your money be destroyed with you for thinking God's gift can be bought. You can have no part in this, for your heart is not right with God. Repent of your wickedness and pray to the Lord, perhaps he will forgive your evil thoughts. For I can see that you are full of bitter jealousy and are held captive by sin. Pray to the Lord for me, Simon exclaimed, that these terrible things you've said won't happen to me. After testifying and preaching the word of the Lord in Samaria, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem, and they stopped in many Samaritan villages along the way to preach the good news. As for Philip, an angel of the Lord said to him, Go south down the desert road that runs from Jerusalem to Gaza. So he stepped out, started out, and he met the treasurer of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority, under the Kandake, the queen of Ethiopia. The eunuch had gone to Jerusalem to worship, and he was now returning. Seated in his carriage, he was reading aloud from the book of the prophet Isaiah. The Holy Spirit said to Philip, Go over and walk along beside the carriage. Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah. Philip asked, Do you understand what you are reading? The man replied, How can I unless someone instructs me? And he urged Philip to come up into the carriage and sit with him. The passage of scripture he had been reading was this he was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. He was humiliated and received no justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth. The eunuch asked Philip, Tell me, was the prophet talking about himself or someone else? So beginning with the scripture, Philip told him the good news about Jesus. As they rode along, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, Look, there's some water, why can't I be baptized? He ordered the carriage to stop, and they went down to the water, and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away. The eunuch never saw him again, but went on his way rejoicing. Meanwhile, Philip found himself farther north at the town of Azetus. He preached the good news there, and in every town along the way until he came to Caesarea.

Waiting On The Lord’s Redemption

SPEAKER_00

Psalm 131 through eight, a song for pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem. From the depths of despair, O Lord, I call for your help. Hear my cry, O Lord, pay attention to my prayer. Lord, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive? Let you offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear you. I am counting on the Lord, yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word. I long for the Lord more than centuries, long for the dawn, yes, more than centuries long for the dawn. O Israel, hope in the Lord. For with the Lord there is unfailing love, his redemption overflows, he himself will redeem Israel from every kind of sin. Proverbs 17, 2 through 3. A wise servant will rule over the master's disgraceful son, and will share the inheritance of the master's children. Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but the Lord tests the heart. Great song there, folks, right? 130. I read these over and over so often over the years, uh, and and I it's like I forget 'em. What a wonderful song.

Honor Killing Story And Warning

SPEAKER_00

1998. Honor killing of Ruckshana Nas. Her mother, brother, and other family members all contributed in some form or fashion to murder her for refusing an arranged marriage and becoming pregnant by a man they disapproved of. She was she was strangled and her body was dumped. Again, Muslims, folks, this was a British, 19-year-old British woman of Pakistani heritage.

Reviews, Sharing, And Donations

SPEAKER_00

Forgot. If you're looking for a family-friendly middle grade read, something for your kids or grandkids that you can feel comfortable, hopefully, with them reading. If you would check out the countryside series, there's two books in the series. And if you enjoy it, if you would leave a review online somewhere, tell others about it, that helps. Same thing with the two podcasts, American Soul Podcast and America's Christian Heritage Podcast. If you're getting something out of them, if you'd leave a review somewhere, I would be very grateful for that. That helps people to find the podcast or just tell them word of mouth. That's always the best, right? And if you have five or ten dollars a month to donate, there's a link in the show notes where you can set up that monthly donation and that price of a cup of coffee. That helps a great deal too. So thank you for any or all of those.

Medal Of Honor Spotlight

SPEAKER_00

Medal of Honor for today, Albert Ralph Campbell, private, highest rank corporal, China Relief Expedition, the Boxer Rebellion, U.S. Marine Corps, June 21st, 1900. Tinsin, China. In action at Tiens, China, 21 June, 1900, during the advance on Tinsin, which I'm probably pronouncing wrong, Campbell distinguished himself by his conduct. Accredited to Pennsylvania, not awarded posthumously, presented March 24, 1902. Born April 8, 1875, Williamsport, Pennsylvania, died December 4th, 1925, Los Angeles, California. Buried Forest Lawn Memorial Park in TAC 762 Tac two Glendale, California. Albert Ralph Campbell.

Lincoln On Trial And Responsibility

SPEAKER_00

Abraham Lincoln. So our heritage quote for today, one of them if we get to two, in his second annual message to Congress, this was in December of 1862, he opens, Since your last annual assembling, another year of health and bountiful harvest has passed. And while it has not pleased the Almighty to bless us with a return of peace, we can but press on, guided by the best light, he gives us, trusting that in his own good time and wise way all will yet be well. Right, turning to God at the beginning there, and then at the end, the last paragraph plus here in his message. The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country. Fellow citizens, we cannot escape history. We of this Congress and this administration will be remembered in spite of ourselves. No personal significance or insignificance can spare one or another of us. The fiery trial through which we pass will light us down in honor or dishonor to the latest generation. We say we are for the Union. The world will not forget that we say this. We know how to save the Union. The world knows we do know how to save it. We, even we here, hold the power and bear the responsibility. In giving freedom to the slave, we assure freedom to the free, honorable alike in what we give and what we preserve. We shall nobly save or meanly lose the last best hope of earth. Other means may succeed, but this could not fail. The way is plain, peaceful, generous, just a way which, if followed, the world will forever applaud, and God must forever bless. Abraham Lincoln's second annual message December 1862.

Christian Nation Claim And Evidence

SPEAKER_01

We turn to God in our trials.

SPEAKER_00

This is now going into the sixth year. There's mountains of evidence that we are a Christian nation. To say otherwise, I heard somebody make this comment recently. It's either ignorance or it's intentional. And I have often said it's either ignorance or malevolence. They either are ignorant of history or they know history and they're purposefully denying the truth with evil intentions. One more little quote for today, because I just stumbled on this and it's fascinating. So the Treaty of Paris in 1783, right? This fits the fact that this is our 250th anniversary. It was signed on September the 3rd, 1783, between the American colonies and Great Britain. And it did a couple things in particular. It ended the American Revolution, and it recognized formally as an independent nation the United States. Right? So this is the very document. And I heard uh the wall builders organization talking about this. Um, great organization, by the way. It's one of the three books that I highly recommend. The Founders Bible that they produce, along with the Patriots Bible, edited by Dr. Richard Lee, and the American America's God and Country Encyclopedia of Quotes by William Federer. Highly recommend having hard copies of all those in your house. They should be the primary texts in our public schools across the nation. But it there's two things. One, simple, right? Done at the end of this treaty. It says done at Paris this third day of September in the year of our Lord, 1783. It's signed by Hartley, who was the British ambassador, I believe, uh at least the British representative, John Adams, Middleman-Franklin, John Jay. But the really interesting thing is the beginning, which I had never heard before until I saw this little clip or read this little bit by the Heritage or the Wall Builders Foundation. At the very beginning, the first line of the Treaty of Paris, which created the United States as a nation, is in the name of the most holy and undivided trinity. So the very document that makes us a nation, the very first line of that document acknowledges God the Father of Jesus Christ, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Everything that comes after is based on that acknowledgement. So when you just again, when you hear somebody say that we were not founded as a Christian nation, our principles weren't. And this is just one example of so many, but this is the first line of the treaty that actually recognized us as an independent nation for the first time, right? At the end of the war, in the name of the most holy and undivided Trinity.

The Lord’s Prayer And Blessing

SPEAKER_00

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us the stay our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not to temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory of forever and ever. Amen. God bless y'all, your families, your marriages, your nation, wherever you are around the world listening. God bless America. We'll talk to you all again real soon, folks.
